One Step Closer to the Galaxy Far Far Away

One Step Closer to the Galaxy Far Far Away

Supposedly in March 2008, Apple filed a patent application for a “realistic holographic 3D display experience.” The iCom is reportedly “a music player, a digital picture frame, a weather station — and a holophone.” Cool.

But if holographic technology is taking flight, I want to know when artificial intelligence is going to advance to the point where I can have a trashcan-shaped robot sidekick. Not only do I want a trashcan-like robot sidekick, I want one with a quirky personality that will display my holograms. Better yet, let’s skip the robot and let’s start working on creating a legit lightsaber.

While the picture above is a 3D rendering in the artist’s perspective, I’m sure like all first generation gadgets it won’t be paper thin. But one can always hope. How cool does it look though? Suck it 2D.
