Big Sean: U Know Big Sean II

Apr, 18. 2009 by Andrew in Music

So, when I met the n*gger big Sean, Kanye brought him through and was like ‘yo, yo, you gotta check out this guy man, young nigga, he’s hot’. And I’m like aight aight, and the kid just, you know, his confidence is like, I ain’t know, I was thinking to myself, he looked a bit timid and i ain’t know, then the n*gger started rhyming and was just like bussin, his metaphors were smart, wordplay was slick. You know, just clever. He’s obviously a sneakerhead, major gear, he’s wiping his ass on you n*ggers. I dont think he means to, he’s not like a boastful guy, just doesn’t mean to, really he’s just wiping his ass with you n*ggas. – Pharrell Williams

Check this out before anything. Yes, he has Ye, Amber, Cudi, Mr. Hudson and Common eating out of the palm of his hands.

So apparently, everyone has known about Sean for a year, since the signing to the G.O.O.D. music label and Def Jam in 08. Anyways, through the emergence of the Cool Kids, Kid Cudi, Wale, Big Sean has been building up a pace for success that may push him past them all. Sean Michael Leonard Anderson is a 20 year old from Santa Monica, California who moved to Detroit at such an early age he attributes his success to a radio show, the Friday Night Cycle, he’d been keeping since the tenth grade.

After starting up a radio show in his high school, Detroit Waldorf High School in Michigan, he ran into Kanye one summer during his Through the Wire times at his station. He ended up spitting for him while he was leaving the building, just because he was his hero. After the ten minutes, Sean was dragged in and out with Kanye with the ups and downs of G.O.O.D music and Sony, Kanye had him put out music constantly to make sure his game was tight, and it finally happened.

Big Sean is another pioneer in the evergrowing forward hip-hop category, involving unconventional collaborations, heavily-synthesized productions and dry wit lyrics that stings with a subtle arrogance from a life of unacceptance. Be sure to check out his latest mixtape, UKNOWBIGSEAN II which features the likes of Pharrell Williams, Santigold and Kanye. His future collaborations are bringing in the likes of Kanye West, The Dream and Jay Z.

His actual debut album, Finally Famous is to be released out late Spring 2009 so keep an eye peeled.
