Cinemash Series
Aug, 13. 2009 by Brian .
Basically there is not much to say about this other than Mean Magazine has come up with this amazing idea of having some current actors reenact scenes from some classic movies, which they’ve called the Cinemash Series. Some of the movies include Dirty Dancing (with Channing Tatum and Charlyne Yi), Sid and Nancy (with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel), and even Old Boy with Milo Ventimiglia, but my favourites have got to be the Human Giant crew and friends doing Point Break, and the recent reenactment of Training Day by Common and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (aka Fogel). Check it out below:
Quest Crew ABDC Commercial Season 4
Jul, 24. 2009 by Brian .
So I know this isn’t brand new but since I’ve been looking for a decent version of it EVERYwhere since I saw it last week. It’s the commercial for the next season of America’s Best Dance Crew, and I’m not really that into the show, but you have to admit Quest Crew is craaazy. So basically, like most people, the only reason I liked this clip so much was the crazy spin that occurs at about 33 seconds. But – in my previous searches of the video before, I realized that it was not as crazy as it seems. A few things to consider, first notice how when the spin occurs for some reason NO one else in the back is doing anything, ok fine, maybe not the strongest point. BUT if you watch it as many times as I have, you’ll notice the way D-Trix goes from that first pose to the spin to the ending pose seems too, I don’t know… fabricated? Oh and if that’s not good enough for you either, go here. I mean, I still think it’s crazy but just thought I’d put that out there…
Banksy Exhibit
Jul, 14. 2009 by Brian .
England-based graffiti artist, Banksy, has made a name for himself beyond the Bristol area where he has done most of his work, to basically being known worldwide. He’s known for satirical stencil pieces on topics such as politics, culture, and ethics but has moved on to more elaborate forms of art over the years. Recently he had a show at the Bristol City Museum which featured not only stencils but also sculptures and animatronics. Check it out:
More Funny People Promotion: George Simmons’ Website
Jul, 05. 2009 by Brian .
As predicted, the elaborate Funny People promotion continues with a website dedicated to Adam Sandler’s character, George Simmons. The website is pretty elaborate, including a gallery of his album covers, press coverage, posters, and 3 video clips from his (fake) movies, which seem to poke fun at Sandler’s own movies and just crappy movies in general. Re-do, basically looks like an exaggerated version of Seventeen Again mixed with Little Man; Sayonara Davey! looks like an Adam Sandler re-make of Mr. Baseball; and most obviously Dog’s Best Friend = Turner and Hooch. Jason Schwartzman’s character, Mark Taylor Jackson, also has a website with a bio and photo gallery.
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANDY
Jul, 01. 2009 by Brian .
As predicted in a previous post, in an act of marketing and comedic genius, some more pseudo promotion for the characters in Judd Apatow’s Funny People (opening July 31) has been released (ok fine I said it would be for Adam Sandler’s character but still…). This time it is a website for Aziz Ansari’s character, Randy, aka RAAAAAAAAANDY, a slightly crude comedian equipped with a DJ as his hypeman who plays samples that say “R-R-RANDY!” following the punchlines. You might recall him mentioning it during his interview with Jimmy Kimmel. Anyways, the website is pretty cool – there’s even video clips!! I would make it into a short hyperlink for the post to seem more concise, but you have to see the name of this website: laughyourdickoff.com
